Afrika Korps German Halftrack

This was a another gem of a model to build and another try at color modulation.

Munitions Schlepper for Nebelwerfer

Here is the Roden sister kit to the Nebelwerfer. Both the kits were great subjects to model and had very detailed interiors but I struggled with the tracks and wheels with both kits.

I've got a diorama idea where the halftrack is driving out of the water. This gives me more practice working with water and I can disguise my lackluster job on the wheels and tracks.

USS Mt. Vernon

This is a ship that I built for a friend. It was a troop transport that served during World War One that his grandfather served upon and was awarded the Navy Cross. The ship was actually torpedoed by a German U-Boat and was able to turn around and head back to France for repairs.

The actual kit is actually the old Titanic kit. I had to cut and move the smoke stacks to resemble the USS Mt. Vernon and add a few guns.

7.62 PAK 35 (r)

Here is my first PAK gun and I was happy with the finish and blending of colors. It was one of my first attempts at color modulation. It also my first MPK kit which was OK to work with.

Tiger Tank

Here is the Tamiya Tiger Tank (Early Version) with the Aber photo etch set (PE). These are both quality products. The Tamiya 1/48 armor series is tops in my book and the kits appear to always go together very nicely. This was my first experience working with Aber and there was more PE than I could possibly use on the model.

This project isn't quite finished yet and needs to be revisited.

German Halftrack

This is the AFV Club German Halftrack with the Blackdog accessory set. The Blackdog set was very thorough and you really get a bang for your buck. The model came out OK but the finish still appears to be a little glossy.

Tamiya 1/48 Panzerkampfwagen III

Tamiya - 1/48 Military Miniatures Series No.24 (ITEM 32524)

Backbone of the Panzerkorps

It seems that I've struggled building models lately and the last few required a little extra work and turned
out to be difficult projects. Recently I was looking to build something that was more enjoyable and would go together without incident. I pulled the Tamiya Panzer III off the shelf and I have to tell you that it has been an absolute gem to build.

I actually took the kit on the road with me while traveling for business and would work on it each night at
the hotel. I'm building this kit straight out of the box and the general construction took about four hours
and the kit was nearly complete.

When I got home I was able to start painting and tried out some color modulation and a little panel shading.
I had an old bottle of Gunze Sanyo dark brown and used it for primer. I then used Tamiya Dark Yellow and darkened it a dark gray and sprayed the suspension, wheels, and low areas. This was the same dark yellow
mixture with a little less gray; and then straight dark yellow as the lightest coat.So far the effect is going well
and I'll post pictures in a short while.

If you are looking for something different or a smooth project then the Tamiya 1/48 armor series might be
right up your alley.

Stay tuned for the pictures...
